A song for the pet you loved

β€œThat was HER thing. Nobody else would know that.”

Samantha, about Rosie's song

Tell us about them. We'll write their song.

Written from your words. Delivered within seven days. 30-day guarantee.

Your answers are used to write their song and nothing else. Reply to any email and we delete them.

Making one as a gift? Flowers last a week. A song about their pet stays. Give one and they answer the questions when they are ready.

Three minutes of remembering. A song you keep for good.

  1. Tell us about them

Start with their name. Then the first memory that comes back, what you miss most, the thing only they did, and one last thing you'd tell them. About three minutes.

  2. Bailey, Never Just a Dog

I find your socks behind the door

The ones I gave up on before

    • 🌲 Porch Light
    • 🎹 The Last Scene
    • πŸŒ… Golden Hour
    • πŸ•―οΈ Sunday Morning

We turn it into their song

Your words become the lyrics, set to the sound you pick: acoustic folk, country, piano ballad or lullaby. The more you tell us, the more it sounds like them.

You told us

β€œBailey had a sock problem. Eleven years, and I never once owned a matching pair.”

It became

I find your socks behind the door
The ones I gave up on before

--:--

The small thing, sung back to them

Tell us what they did every day. It comes back as a line in their song, in their name.

Made from your words, not a template.

Every line is written from your answers and counted syllable by syllable to fit the tune, with their name in the chorus, written the way you told us to say it. If it still doesn't sound like them, reply and we'll redo it once, free, or refund you within 30 days.

Every song starts with one small thing about them

Most pet songs could be about any pet. Theirs starts with the one thing yours did every single day. Here is what three small things became.

Bailey

Warm acoustic

Bailey, Never Just a Dog

--:--

The small thing

β€œBailey had a sock problem. Eleven years, and I never once owned a matching pair.”

In the song

I find your socks behind the door
The ones I gave up on before

Miso

Soft piano

The Quiet Beside Me

--:--

The small thing

β€œSlept upside down with one paw over her eyes, like the light was too much.”

In the song

You slept upside down, legs up high
One paw across your sleepy eye

Luna

Gentle country

The Long Way Home

--:--

The small thing

β€œBrought the red frisbee to the door before anyone had said the word walk.”

In the song

You'd bring the red frisbee to the door
Before the word, you knew for sure

What goes into every song

Bailey Β· eleven years

β€œEvery evening at six, Bailey dropped that blue and orange ball on my feet. Not near them. On them. Then stared until I gave in.”

Bailey's answer

That blue and orange, on my feet
You'd stare till I got off my seat

Bailey, Never Just a Dog

Crafted with the same love you gave them.

Why Songhounds exists

A note from Songhounds

Finn and Bailey on the porch

I made the first one for my own dog. Bailey, eleven years. Every evening at six, a ball dropped on my feet, not near them, on them, and a stare until I gave in.

When Bailey died, someone at work said, well, it was just a dog. So I made Bailey a song. Not about a good dog. About the ball.

Every song here starts with a detail like that.

Finn from Songhounds

Bailey, Never Just a Dog

This house is so quiet it's loud
I hold your ball, my head is bowed

Any last questions?

Everything you need to know before you press the button.

Will it sound like them, or like any pet?

It's written from your answers: what they did every day, the one thing only they did, and what you'd say to them. The more specific you are, the more it sounds like them. Put their nicknames in too.

Will you get their name right?

You tell us how to say their name, and we write it into the song exactly that way. If it's still sung wrong, reply and we'll fix it.

When does it arrive?

Standard delivery is within 7 days of your order. Priority delivery brings it within 24 hours, for $150 more: choose it when you order, or add it any time until the song arrives.

Do I pay extra to download it?

No. The download and their page come with every song.

What if it does not feel like them?

Reply to the delivery email and we make it again once, free: new lyrics and a new recording from your answers. If you change your mind within 30 days, reply to your order email for a full refund of the song and the lyric sheet. Priority delivery is the one exception: it is refunded only if it arrives late.

Do I have to listen right away?

No. The link never expires. Play it when you want to.

Can I make one as a gift?

Yes, two ways. Give a song: you pay, they get a card and a link, and they answer the questions about their pet when they are ready. Or answer what you know yourself, and it comes to your email so you choose when to share it.

Does it work for cats and other pets?

Yes. Tell us what they were on the first screen, a tabby or a cockatiel is enough, and the song is written for them.

Can two pets share a song?

Each song is about one pet, so their name can carry the chorus. For two pets, make two songs.

Will my pet's name and story stay private?

Only you and whoever you send the memorial page link to. The page is public at its address, like a shared photo album.

What happens after I order?

You pay with Stripe and get a receipt. Then it arrives by email with their page: in 7 days, or within 24 hours if you added priority delivery.

What do you do with what I tell you?

Your answers are used to write the song and nothing else. They go only to the services that write the lyrics and make the music, never into ads. Reply to any email and we delete everything.

What can I do with it?

Almost anything, including commercial use: play it, share it, post it, put it in your own videos, upload it to streaming services, sell it. The one limit is film, TV, radio and video games. We grant you that license for good. We do not transfer a copyright in it; the Terms explain why.
